French Open Day 4: Here's What You Missed...
Following three days of shock losses, today was a lot brighter but we did say goodbye to a number of seeded players in both the mens, and womens draw.

After going a set down in her first round match, Simona Halep fought back to win the match 2-6, 6-1, 6-1. She will face the talented American; Taylor Townsend in her second round match.
It was a difficult day for Alexander Zverev. He went a set down in his match against Lajovic, fought back to win the second set, lost the third and dug deep to win the fourth and fifth set, and eventually the match, 2-6, 7-5, 4-6, 6-1, 6-2. He will face Damir Dzumhur in the third round.
David Goffin however, had a much easier time than Zverev. The 8th seed beat french wildcard; Corentin Moutet in straight sets. He will face Gael Monfils in the next round.
Novak Djokovic was out on court following Halep’s win, and faced Munar. As expected, Djokovic won in straight sets, 7-6, 6-4, 6-4. He will face 13th seed; Roberto Bautista Agut in his third round match.
Jeremy Chardy and Tomas Berdych also returned to court to finish their match after yesterday's rain delay. As I predicted, Jeremy Chardy managed to knock out the 17th seed in five sets. He will face Pierre-Hugues Herbert in the next round.
19th seed; Kei Nishikori battled it out for close to three hours, and managed to secure his place in the third round after beating french favourite; Benoit Paire 6-3, 2-6, 4-6, 6-2, 6-3.
Caroline Wozniacki had no trouble against Georgina Garcia Lopez as she dropped just one game.
We said goodbye to 12th seed; Sam Querrey. He lost in four sets to frenchman Gilles Simon. Simon will go on to face Kei Nishikori in the third round.
8th seed; Petra Kvitova was extremely impressive out on court 1 as she beat Arruabarrena 6-0, 6-4. She will face a tough third round opponent; Anett Kontaveit.
We also saw Svitolina and Osaka win in straight sets. Svitolina will play Mihaela Buzarnescu and Osaka will play 13th seed; Madison Keys in their third round matches.
I predicted a shock loss which wasn’t meant to be. 24th seed; Barbora Strycova won her second round encounter against Ekaterina Makarova. Also winning their second round matches in the women's draw was 25th seed; Anett Kontaveit, 13th seed; Madison Keys, Qiang Wang, and 10th seed; Sloane Stephens.
10th seed; Carreno Busta won his second round match against Federico Delbonis in four sets. He will be joined in the third round by Pierre-Hugues Herbert, 13th seed; Bautista Agut, Julien Benneteau, 30th seed; Fernando Verdasco, 26th seed; Damir Dzumhur and Matteo Berrettini.
In the last hour, we said goodbye to Guillermo Garcia-Lopez who lost in four sets to Karen Khachanov and 23rd seed; Carla Suarez-Navarro. She lost in straight sets to Maria Sakkari. We also lost Alize Cornet who was seeded 32.
Unfortunately we lost Marco Trungelliti who, after travelling overnight from Barcelona to replace an injured Kyrgios won his first round match against Tomic. He was defeated by Marco Cecchinato.
Stay tuned for tomorrow as we face another day of second-round matches!
